Broomstack
League management for curling clubs

Run the whole season. Not the spreadsheet.

Registration, team formation, the draw, ice allocation, scores, standings and bonspiels — one system, built for the volunteers who already do the work.

What the platform does

Every part of a season, in one place

From the first sign-up in the fall to the last stone of the bonspiel — no exports, no re-typing, no second system to keep in step.

Registration that closes itself

Curlers sign up as individuals or bring a full rink, and state a position preference. Full leagues open a waitlist instead of an email thread.

Team formation

Build rinks from the registrant pool by dragging names into positions, with each curler's preference, experience and availability on the card — or run a live draft everyone follows on their phones.

Schedule & draw

Generate a round robin that balances byes and rotates sheets. Pin the games you have already promised, regenerate the rest, publish when it's right.

Ice allocation

One calendar per facility, coloured by club. Guest clubs request the ice they need and wait for approval, so no two leagues land on the same sheet.

Scores & standings

Skips report the final or score end by end, add last-stone-draw distances, and the opposing skip confirms. Standings update the moment it's official.

Spare board

Members set the positions and nights they'll play. Short teams reach every eligible spare at once, and the first to accept is in — straight from the email.

Shared facilities

More than one club, one calendar

Most ice houses host more than one club. Broomstack treats the facility as the shared resource it is: every league, clinic and bonspiel on one grid, colour-coded by club, with requests and approvals in the same view.

  • Guest clubs see the full grid read-only and request ice
  • Pending requests are visible to both clubs until decided
  • Sheet-level detail, so half the house stays bookable

On the ice

Built to be used with gloves on

Score entry is a phone screen first: big steppers, no typing, and the last-stone-draw distances in the same pass. The opposing skip confirms and the result is official — nobody carries a paper scorecard to the bar.

  • Final score or end-by-end, whichever the league keeps
  • Two-skip confirmation, or a volunteer settles it
  • Standings, tiebreaks and playoff seeding follow automatically

Standings

The table everyone argues about, kept honest

Points, wins, losses, ties, ends for and against, and last-stone-draw averages for tiebreaks — readable on a phone in the warm room, and computed from the results rather than kept by hand, so correcting a three-week-old score just reorders the table.

  • Your own team highlighted wherever it sits
  • Tiebreak rules applied the way your league writes them
  • Bonspiel brackets: knockout, double knockout, pools or Schenkel

Who it's for

Built for volunteers, not IT departments

Every club runs on a handful of people who already have jobs. Each role sees only the screens that belong to it.

Registrars

Sign-ups to a published draw

Position preferences, the waitlist and the team roster in one view — then a generated schedule you can adjust before anyone sees it.

Ice & facility chairs

Every sheet, fully booked

Allocate ice across leagues, clinics and bonspiels, and approve or decline another club's request without a phone call.

Skips & members

Next game, at a glance

The date, sheet, lineup and stone colour on one card — plus spare requests to accept and a score to report before leaving the ice.

Taking on a few more clubs

Broomstack is running real seasons now, and we are adding a small number of clubs at a time so it grows around what clubs actually do rather than what we guessed. That means you get a say in what gets built, and it means you talk to a person rather than a signup form.

See it with your own leagues in it
